Old drawings and old music

Watch out, lots of images to come.

I don’t listen to music nearly as much as I used to when I was living in Alabama. Part of this was that I did web design for a few bands and record companies back there, so I listened to a lot of their music, which led to more music, etc etc. I still have my folder of CDs. Somehow when I moved to Australia the passion kind of died…after a while music became just something to listen to in my spare time, when I got a chance. I didn’t really savour it anymore.

Also when I was in Alabama I used to draw quite a bit. When drawing I used to put on my favourite CD and often I’d select one individual song to just listen to on repeat as I drew. The drawing reflected the song for me, even though to anyone else the connection just wasn’t there a lot of the time. That didn’t matter, what mattered was that when I saw the drawing I remembered that one time listening to that one song and capturing it for myself in whatever way worked for me.

Recently I went through my old DeviantArt account and I was so happy to run into these drawings upon drawings reminding me of all these songs I used to love. I decided to find every song and combine them into a separate playlist on my iPhone. I made a list of these old drawings that led me to these songs again here and decided to post them, from the order of newest to oldest. It doesn’t really matter that they’re not very good – looking at them reminds me of the exact day I drew them.
