It seems the iPhone 4 is being dogged by even more problems. The latest widespread issue with the device is Glassgate, which is caused primarily by third party iPhone 4 cases (yet cases which have still been endorsed by Apple itself) getting tiny particles like sand stuck between the case and the glass. These stuck particles in turn cause scratches on the glass on the back of the iPhone that eventually develop into cracks – big ones.
Apparently some Apple fanboys are blaming iPhone owners for buying the cases that triggered this problem! What happened to the glass being 30 times stronger than any plastic, Apple? What happened to
“…the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains…”
I’m using a Bumper and I hope I won’t have to deal with this issue (especially after being sold not one but two faulty devices, after lining up outside the Apple store for 7 1/2 hours at night to get it on launch day). But this whole issue just makes my blood boil – why don’tcha stop selling crap and start putting some effort into the work you market oh-so-well?
I don’t know what kind of phone Apple will have up its sleeve next year, but as it stands right now I’m fully expecting to switch to either Android or Windows Phone 7 (eh…probably Android) next year. And if the glass on the back of my phone cracks – well, let’s just say my angry iPhone 4 rants so far have been nothing compared to what’s to come.
